St. Mary’s Hospital was founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1903. When St. Mary’s first opened its doors on April 19, 1903, that hospital had 11 employees, 20 beds and a deep-seated resolve to provide all members of the community with the finest in medical care and the utmost in compassion. More than a century later St. Mary’s has over 1,600 associates, 123 acute care beds, a 160 bed skilled nursing home, over 10 primary care and specialty care sites, and over 30 community based behavioral health programs throughout the Montgomery and Fulton county area. From its very humble beginnings St. Mary’s has evolved into a modern community hospital offering healthcare services across the full continuum of life.
