Approximately 17 million people in the United States are afflicted with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (C.O.P.D.). If you are one of these patients, you may be pleased to learn that aside from seeking regular medical care, there are other things that you can do to make your life more comfortable and enjoyable.

The Physical Therapy Department of St. Mary's Healthcare offers a professional staff with experience and expertise in pulmonary rehabilitation. Our outpatient facility offers state-of-the-art equipment and a comprehensive pulmonary rehab program.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation Services include:

  • Breathing techniques and exercises
  • Exercises for the arms and legs
  • Aerobic Exercise
  • Resistive Training
  • Effective Coughing
  • Postural Drainage
  • Energy Conservation
  • Activities of daily living
  • Relaxation
  • Education in Signs of Distress

We attempt to offer an initial appointment within the week of the referral. Our staff to patient ratio for Pulmonary Rehabilitation is always 1:1. We do not double-book our staff, so appointments are on time and the therapist is dedicated to only one patient throughout the visit.
