The ICU is an 8 bed critical care area, located on the 2nd floor, designed to provide ongoing, specialized care by trained personnel. The purpose of this unit reflects the philosophy of the department and the mission of the hospital in that acute coronary care and care to med/surg patients who require extra-ordinary care on a concentrated and continuous basis is provided. The patient type on this unit consist of medical, surgical or pediatric and require close observation and care, cardiac monitoring, invasive monitoring and/or ventilatory support.
Registered Nurses (RNs) provide holistic care to patients and their families that include physiological, psychological, cultural, spiritual and social needs in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team approach. Evidence-based assessment tools are utilized in the assessment and evaluation of patient care needs. An individualized plan of care is implemented upon admission and continuously updated to meet changes in the patient's condition.
