Dr. Vikram Verma joins St. Mary’s Amsterdam Family Practice

AMSTERDAM, N.Y., July 30, 2026— Dr. Vikram Verma has joined St. Mary’s Healthcare’s Amsterdam Family Practice. He has more than a decade of experience, most recently as a hospitalist/inpatient medicine physician at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany.
Dr. Verma fills a vacancy created by the retirement of Dr. George Weis, who provided exceptional care to the Amsterdam community for decades. The appointment ensures that patients of Dr. Weis continue to receive that same high-quality care, without interruption.
“Dr. Verma shares St. Mary’s compassionate patient-focused approach and our commitment to serve our community, especially those who are vulnerable,” said Erika Iler, director of primary care at St. Mary’s. “He is a wonderful addition to our primary care team.”
A graduate of the University of Connecticut, Dr. Verma earned his medical degree from New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed a residency in family medicine at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. He is board certified in family medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Osteopathic Association.
