St. Mary’s Opens Wide the Doors of New Outpatient Pavilion
Asking God to “open wide the doors of St. Mary’s Rao Outpatient Pavilion,” assembled associates, physicians and guests of St. Mary’s Healthcare, Amsterdam, New York, recently dedicated a new 40,000-square-foot, $17 million patient-centered facility.
The St. Mary’s Rau Outpatient Pavilion, which took a year to construct, offers laboratory services, medical imaging, a breast health center, pre-surgical teaching/testing, urgent care and an expanded cancer medicine center in an accessible, high-traffic location.
The Most Rev. Edward Scharfenberger, DD, Bishop of Albany, along with representatives of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, the Board of Trustees of St. Mary’s Healthcare, the Board of Directors of the St. Mary’s Foundation, Ascension, the St. Mary’s leadership team and St. Mary’s associates assisted with the recognition of the “state-of-the-science” outpatient facility and the generous donors who made it possible.
“Like the Sisters who founded St. Mary’s, we have pioneers here today who have blazed a bold new trail with bravery, generosity and faith … those who put their hearts and minds into planning how best to care for patients,” said Vic Guilianelli, President and CEO of St. Mary’s. Vic thanked attendees for their belief in the Mission, Vision and people of St. Mary’s. “We will always cherish that belief and let it continue to ignite our passion for delivering on the promise of our Mission,” he said.
As part of the dedication ceremony, Bishop Scharfenberger and Ronald Marsh, MD, Chair of the Board of Trustees, surrounded by the family for whom the center is named – Govind Rao, MD, his wife, Jyothi, and members of their family – uncovered a rendering of the building.
At the event, all the donors who contributed to the new center were recognized for their support of meeting the community’s healthcare needs.
Dedication Prayer for St. Mary’s Rao Outpatient Pavilion:
Open wide the doors of St. Mary’s Rao Outpatient Pavilion,” Holy God. As these new doors automatically swing open with welcome, in this building, may we be open to all persons, treating them with care and compassion.
Open wide the doors of our eyes, Holy God. Like the sparkling windows that reflect the light, in this building, may all people see how God’s unwavering light shines for them in the excellent care that they will receive.
Open wide the doors of our minds, Holy God. As the new technology stands poised and ready for human use, in this building, may human beings experience safe and high quality medicine, touched with grace and humanity.
