Mental Health:Adult Services

Emergency Services -

Provides 24 hour contact with mental health services, including emergency telephone counseling: call 842-9111. Other services include in-person evaluations, intervention and assessment. 

 

Inpatient Psychiatric Care  -

The Mental Health Inpatient Unit (St. Dymphna Hall) is located on the third floor of St. Mary's Hospital.  The goal is to provide short-term, comprehensive, individualized care designed to mobilize a person's resources and enable them to cope with current crises.  Normal visiting hours for this Unit are 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.   Some restrictions may apply.

 

Continuing Day Treatment -

(CDT) This is an intensive, therapeutic, 5 day a week program for persons recovering from mental illness.  The program is integrated with inpatient services; it helps prevent and/or reduce hospital length of stay and aids transition back to the community.   CDT is located on the third floor of the hospital.  Call 841-7346 or click here for more details about this program.

 

Adult Mental Health Clinic -

The Adult Mental Health Clinic is located at 427 Guy Park Avenue in Amsterdam, New York.  The clinic provides outpatient mental health services (diagnosis and treatment) to adults 18 years of age and older who reside in Montgomery County.  Appointments are available Monday through Friday.  Evening appointments may be available upon request.  Contact the Clinic at 841-7341.

 

Mobile Geriatric Outreach Program -

This program addresses the needs of the elderly mentally ill residing in Montgomery and Fulton counties.  Staff provide education and consultation to service providers and mental health assessment and referral to individuals.  For information call 841-7341.

 

Case Management, Supportive Case Management, and Intensive Case Management Services -

Working as client advocates, Case Managers support adult clients in Fulton, Montgomery, and Hamilton counties by linking them with needed medical, psychiatric, social, and educational services.  For information on Adult Case Management services call 841-7466.

 

Family Care Program -

The Family Care Program provides 24-hour supervised family-like housing and associated supportive services needed for community living.  To inquire about this program, call 841-7466.

 

Intensive Psychiatric Rehabilitation Training (IPRT) -

"New Beginnings" is a practical, skills-based program designed to help individuals in recovery from mental illness identify and move toward selected goals in the areas of vocation, education, living arrangements and socialization.   IPRT programming runs 5 days a week at 446 Guy Park Avenue in Amsterdam, NY.  For additional information about IPRT call 841-7468 or click here .

 

Social Club Program  (N.E.W. Frontiers) -

Provides a unique day program which fosters the development of self through involvement in a "club-like" setting.  The Club has 3 sites - N.E.W. Frontiers East is located at 303-305 East Main Street in Amsterdam; N.E.W. Frontiers West is located at  8 River Road in Nelliston; and N.E.W. Special Employment Program -

A program designed to teach new skills, develop work habits, and build self-confidence through participation in a success-oriented work environment.  This program works out of our N.E.W. Frontiers East location in Amsterdam.  To inquire about this program call 842-4019.
