Services:Food and Nutrition Services

The hospital's team of Registered Dietitians works closely with your doctors, nurses and other members of your healthcare team to provide nutrition care and education.  The Food and Nutrition Services Staff provides you with attractive, nutritious meals of high quality in accord with your prescribed diet.

In the event you would like food not found on our menu, our Dietetic Technicians can assist you in selecting meal items which you will enjoy within the dietary restrictions set by your doctor and healthcare team.  You may call extension 7186 to talk with a Dietetic Technician.

Our Registered Dietitians provide a wide variety of nutrition care services to inpatients as well as outpatients.  During hospital stays, dietitians explain special diets to patients and their families, provide consultations regarding specialized nutrition interventions, and collaborate with medical and nursing staff to meet patient's nutrition needs.  For outpatients, dietitians provide nutrition education and other preventive nutrition care services to patients referred by their physicians.

Your guests may dine with you in your room for an additional charge.  Please let a member of the Food & Nutrition Services Department or your nurse know if you would like guest trays delivered to your room.  Meals are also available to your guests in our cafeteria.

The Main Hospital Cafeteria is located on the first floor of the main hospital building at 427 Guy Park Avenue.  Go through the wood door near the visitor elevators, take a left down the corridor and follow the sign to the cafeteria.  We provide breakfast, lunch and dinner: pizza, hot entrées, a deli, soup, sweets and a self serve salad bar. Open every day, 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Closed between meals on holidays.   Vending machines are available 24 hours a day in various visitor waiting areas throughout the hospital, including in the corridor leading to the Emergency Department.
