St. Mary's Hospital is an active participant in the CMS sponsored National Patient Satisfaction Survey, HCAHPS. The goal of this initiative is to evaluate the care and services provided at acute care hospitals in the nation and provide a report back to the public on how the health care system is functioning.
Our patient's opinions regarding care and service are very important to us. So, in addition to the HCAHPS survey, we survey our patients in a variety of settings, including Emergency Room, Out Patient Services, Ambulatory Surgery, In Patient and Medical Practice. Through this patient satisfaction survey process, we are provided with information that helps us to identify where we are doing well and to highlight where we may have opportunities to improve the care and services we provide.
Press Ganey is the company we have hired to coordinate the patient satisfaction survey process. The hospital provides a confidential list of all patients who have been discharged from the hospital to Press Ganey and they randomly select patients to receive the survey. As a patient who has been discharged from our hospital, you may receive one of these surveys. The survey is mailed directly to you by Press Ganey and is returned to Press Ganey in the addressed and postage paid envelope included with the survey. Completion of the survey is voluntary and your responses are kept confidential unless you sign the optional signature line, in which case we may contact you regarding your response. Press Ganey analyzes the results of the returned surveys on our behalf and provides us with reports. We use the information that is provided to us to assist in identifying where we are doing well and to highlight where we may have opportunities to improve the care and services we provide.
We appreciate the feedback that is provided to us through this survey process. Should you be selected and choose to complete the survey, we encourage you to express your opinions, both positive and negative in an open and frank manner.

As such, every patient survey asks you to score whether or not you would recommend St. Mary's Hospital to your family and friends on a scale of 0 (not at all likely) to 10 (extremely likely).
