St. Mary's Hospital Behavioral Health, Continuing Day Treatment Program (CDT) provides time limited, intensive outpatient mental health treatment for consumers. CDT began operation in 1983, originally known as the Partial Hospital Program, CDT's goal is to reduce symptoms, maintain clients capacity to function in the community by educating consumers about their illness and teaching effective, healthy life management/coping skills. CDT is often used as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization, as well as the next treatment step following a hospitalization for acute symptoms of a mental illness. This program is available to individuals 18 years of age or older who are diagnosed with a serious mental illness. Services include assessment and treatment planning, health screening, verbal therapy, group therapy, psycho-education, rehabilitation readiness determination, crisis intervention and medication therapy.
Located on the third floor at St. Mary's Hospital, the Continuing Day Treatment Programs operates Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. The phone number is 841-7346. Emergency services are available 24 hours everyday though St. Mary's Behavioral Center emergency telephone line (842-9111) when the program is not open.

Staff consists of licensed/certified mental health professionals and supervised paraprofessionals who are qualified by education, training and experience. Each person admitted to the program is assigned a Primary Therapist who assumes responsibility for providing and coordinating the recommended treatment. Other staff of the CMHAC become involved as member of the interdisciplinary team as the need arises.

Referrals are accepted from individuals requesting services for themselves, community counseling programs, residential programs, court and probation, physicians and hospital emergency rooms.

Clients attend the program for approximately 5 months. The length of participation is determined on goals and the progress made towards achieving them. The majority of health insurances cover the cost of this program however there is a sliding fee scale for those individuals without insurance or who's insurance does not cover the program cost. Approximately 50-75 clients utilize CDT services at any given time with an average daily attendance of 24.
