Visiting Guidelines for the Birthplace at St.Mary's
Dear Families,
Out of respect for the intimacy of the birth process the following guidelines have been developed to ensure that
new Mothers and Fathers are provided with time to rest, recover and learn about becoming new parents following
the birth of their child.
Visitors are limited to two visitors during labor and delivery as designated by the laboring mother.
Visiting hours following delivery are from 12 noon until 8 pm (exceptions made for father of baby,
grandparents and siblings).
We are careful about preventing infection and for this reason no one should visit a new mother or baby
if they appear to have a cold or illness.
Children under the age of 12 should not visit, unless they are the brother or the sister of the new baby.
A waiting room is available by the elevators and on the first floor for overflow of visitors as needed.
We will not allow families to wait in the halls as this impedes our ability to provide confidential and safe
care to our patients in labor.
It is wise to keep visit lengths short, new parents are often tired following the excitement and work of
delivery. Rest is important; therefore short visits especially by younger siblings are advised.
Wishing your family the very best,
The Birthplace Staff at St.Mary's Hospital
