BORROWING AUDIOVISUAL

Equipment available:  slide projectors, overhead projectors, tape recorders, VCR/TV, video cameras, easels, flip charts, microphones, projection equipment, laptop computers and portable screens.  To reserve equipment, contact the Education Department in advance to ensure availability.  The borrower is responsible for picking up and returning equipment.  All borrowed equipment must be signed out and in on the Equipment Log Sheet.  Please report all equipment malfunctions to the Education Department.  For security purposes, equipment should not be left unattended or left in unlocked areas.

 

 

BORROWING BOOKS, JOURNALS & VIDEO TAPES: In-House Holdings

A listing of In-House Books can be found in the Card Catalog located in the Main Library.  A listing of In-House Journals is kept in the Journal Index File Box located on top of the Card CatalogVideo Tapes are arranged on the shelf by subject.  An alphabetical listing of subjects is posted on the side of the metal shelf.  In-house holdings can also be located electronically through the Meditech System.  Meditech users can access this database file on their Main Menu by choosing Library.  Next, open the cabinet called Library Resources for Staff and choose the database file called Library Collection - 9/03.

 

Borrowing Time - Items may be borrowed for a period of two weeks and may be renewed if not reserved by another person.  See contact persons below.

 

Reference Materials - Reference materials may not be removed from the library without permission from the Library Manager.

 

 

INTER-LIBRARY LOAN REQUESTS: External Resources

SMH Health Sciences Library uses several on-line databases to access external resources.  CaDiLac is an on-line system used to locate a book or journal from regional libraries.  DOCLINE is an on-line service used to request articles from member libraries.  Medline, the world's leading bibliographic database of medical information, is accessed through Internet.  We can connect with the National Library of Medicine to do literature searches.  Access to resources on the INTERNET is also available.  Forward all requests to the Education Department.  P.C. with Internet access is available in the library.

 

Request Forms

Book/Article and Literature Search request forms are available in Meditech in the LIBRARY RESOURCES cabinet, in the Medical Staff Library and through the Education Department.  Request forms should be completely filled out and forwarded to the Education Department for processing.
